Should I apply ED?

Okay so I have a pretty sucky GPA-This is completely due to my horrendous sophmore year. However, I'm trying to make up for that with a rather drastic upward grade trend. I went from a 2.9uw to a 3.8uw in my junior year.

Now obviously my senior year grades can help out quite a bit, assuming I have the ability and strive to do extremely well. But the problem lies in the fact that the ED deadline is Nov 1st and my first marking period ends on Nov 7th which means NYU will probably receive my grades after that. I'm guessing ~Nov 10th-15th. If I apply ED, will NYU even consider these grades? Can I possibly send them in?

If not, should I sacrifice the ED option just so I can impress NYU with my 1st mp grades? Which option would provide better results?

Sure, I've heard it many times. "NYU's ED pool is just as competetive as its RD pool". But can this really be true? I mean I figure the RD pool would consist of a lot of ivy-league bound kids, whom I frankly won't stand a chance against.

My apologies if this question has been brought up already.

Oh and NYU is my absolute number 1 choice.

I'd say apply ED. Telling NYU that it is your number one choice will make a very good impression, and they do give you greater consideration. I don't think they'll be able to consider your first marking period grades, but since I didn't apply ED i don't know for sure... call the admissions office and ask about that. Stress in your personal responses that you were able to make the upward trend, and will probably continue to do so.

considering your junior year grades already reflect an upward trend, i think letting NYU know that they are your #1 would heavily outweigh letting them see your senior year grades. and if the earliest they can be sent is mid-november, i stil think they'd be able to see them when making a decision. really, the best way is to call them up and ask or email them.

i just had a question of my own. do u know if early decision admitted students get scholarships. or is it just reg. dec. kids
