Should I Apply ED2?

My list was originally 5 colleges: William and Mary (deferred me ED1), Bryn Mawr College (deferred me ED2), Gettysburg, and 2 safeties. I like Gettysburg, but I liked Bryn Mawr more. William and Mary’s said a deferment is basically a polite rejection, so I’m not pursuing that track any longer. But Bryn Mawr’s letter said they deferred me either because they’re waiting for 1st semester grades, or because they want to compare me to the general applicant pool. I can’t know which reason they’re waiting, but this year I’ve pulled mostly Bs (I’m taking the hardest curriculum offered at my school - there are 8 class periods total and I’m taking 10 classes because I got approved to take online APs) so if they’re waiting for 1st semester grades I doubt it’ll help me much. But part of me still really wants to hold out hope for Bryn Mawr - they said in the message that they accept a decent amount of deferred applicants RD. Am I being unrealistic? Should I give up hope on BMC and apply ED2 to Gettysburg? They emailed me saying if I filled out an ED waiver by February 1st I would be eligible. I would rather be at Bryn Mawr, but I don’t want to pass up a chance at another good school while holding out for the hope I’d get into another.

Alternatively, are there any schools like the above 3 that you would recommend I apply to? My mom is suggesting I apply to more since I don’t want to end up at my safeties, but I just can’t find anywhere I like as much. I actually like TCU some (although I’d like to avoid religious colleges in general) but my parents aren’t letting me go as far as Texas. I can go most anywhere from Massachussettes down through South Carolina.

Check out Washington College in Chesterstown, MD for a safety. But it might be too late to apply.

@starsforeyes‌ girl, we’re on the same page. I’m also considering Getty’s ED2 option but I’m not entirely sure I can commit to a party school like Getty. So if you’re not sure you’ll be happy there, don’t apply ED2. Otherwise, you’re having another chance.
Personally, I won’t apply ED2 to Getty.

I don’t think you should apply ED if it is not your top choice. You didn’t get rejected from any schools yet, so that’s a good thing. You are not passing up a chance of Gettysburg if you don’t apply ED, but you will lose the chance of going to one of your deffered schools if you apply ED. Personally I would wait

Just apply regular decision. My DS was also deferred ED at William and Mary. He’s still hopeful, but did get into his second choice, Christopher Newport Univ. And ha also was accepted with a scholarship offer at Univ. Of Mary Washington. He also applied to Gettysburg, American, and Univ. Of Richmond. He did not apply, but did like Elon and Wake Forest. Those were all similar in size to W&M and had some other commonalities. I believe CNU and Mary Washington’s regular decision isn’t due until Feb. 1st.

You should apply RD, you are honestly going to regret it and going to be thinking “what if…”. I know from personal experience. One of the hardest things about the college admissions process is finding safety schools you would be happy attending.
