I'm not in California, so my honors classes do not get extra GPA points, only UC approved honors classes do, so my GPA doesn't meet the 3.4 requirement. I have a 3.2. I have taken all honors and AP classes throughout high school though, and I have a good ACT and my weighted GPA is a 3.8. Plus, Im taking mostly AP classes senior year. I called UC admissions and they said they don't know how UCI reviews their applicants exactly, but that I should explain myself in the additional comments section. I have worked 6 hours to get the money to pay the application fee, but is the 70 dollars worth it? I want to go to school in California but would I even have a shot if I don't meet the requirements?

Your application would not be considered since you do not meet the minimum UC GPA requirement for OOS, just that simple. Are you sure you have calculated your UC GPA correctly? If you have taken at least 4 AP classes Soph/Junior year, you get the 8 extra honors points. What is your unweighted for Soph/Junior year?

Still a 3.2 So you don’t think Ill be considered even if I write something in the additional comments section?

No, you would waste the $70 application fee. If you do not meet the mimimum GPA, then you are not eligible. Your chances are slim for acceptance even if you made the 3.4 GPA cutoff. Average GPA for UCI last year was a UC GPA of 4.0+. Other posters have noted in your other thread, that you would pay around $55K/year to attend with no financial aid for OOS students. There are many schools where you could go without that huge cost. Senior year classes are not considered other than for rigor, so it will not help your GPA.

Ok, thanks for helping with my decision I now realize it’s not worth it.
