I'm not in California, so my honors classes do not get extra GPA points, only UC approved honors classes do, so my GPA doesn't meet the 3.4 requirement. I have a 3.2. I have taken all honors and AP classes throughout high school though, and I have a good ACT and my weighted GPA is a 3.8. Plus, Im taking mostly AP classes senior year. I called UC admissions and they said they don't know how UCI reviews their applicants exactly, but that I should explain myself in the additional comments section. I have worked 6 hours to get the money to pay the application fee, but is the 70 dollars worth it? I want to go to school in California but would I even have a shot if I don't meet the requirements?

why do you want to go to school in California?

Can you afford to attend UCI even if you can get in (which is unlikely).

I would not go to UCI out of state. I work across the street from the school and a few years ago, worked for STEM professors there. No question it’s a good school with many opportunities for engineering majors, but so are plenty of other universities which offer much more in the way of extracurricular life and have a lower cost of attendance.

Because I love the weather, the beach, and the UC school’s engineering ranks are really good

Do you know of any other schools with a good engineering college in California I should apply to? I have a 30 ACT, a pretty good personal statement, and above average extracurriculars.

Can you afford the full out of state cost of attendance?

2/3s of it. I will apply for like 30 scholarships to, even if I dont apply.
