Should i apply to University of Washington?

Ignore all of the stats and controversy... i just want to know if i should apply to U of Washington for computer science. I know its pretty good, but are there oppurtunites there besides Microsoft? Im from California... how is the financial aid? Is it easier to get into U of Washington then UCLA OR UCB?

any information is appreciated

start it up…

UW has an excellent, highly ranked CS program. There are lots of other opportunities besides Microsoft. Amazon and Boeing are in the area, and also a huge list of other technology companies of various sizes. There are a number of gaming companies. Google has a local office as well. Big companies tend to spin off more opportunities as their experienced employees leave and start their own firms.

I can’t answer whether it is easier than UCLA or UCB. You should check the admission statistics for the schools you are interested in, and maybe give some thought to other parameters such as school size, weather, urban vs. rural, etc.

Udub might be easier but the CS is not–highly competitive to get into.

UDub is ranked #7 in CS. It also has the advantage of being in the backyard of Microsoft. The department gets lots of money from Paul Allen and the Gates family ([The Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering](The Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering | Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering)).

CS program at UDub is highly competitive. You have to apply to it again after your sophomore year.

What see some easier majors to get into? I like the direct admission program for CS, but my GPA is weak. I do, however, have a very good background in CS, with some related extracurriculars. One of my essays might be about my interest in it, too.

Bump, 10char

Maybe you should start your own thread instead of bumping someone else’s thread you are trying to take over.

I wasn’t trying to take over the thread; I just wanted to ask a related question. Chill out, this is just the Internet.
