Should I apply to Wall or Greenbaum?

I just committed to Tulane University and cannot be more excited! After touring almost all the dorms on campus, I decided that Wall and Greenbaum are my top choices, however it appears I can only apply to one. I want to make sure that I can meet other people my age, be social, but also remain in a academically focused environment. Any suggestions or insights that might help my decision?

Call housing. I think you can apply to two.

Okay I will definitely do that. The application says
“Note: You can only apply to one Living Learning Community”
Then lists the options as Wall or Greenbaum.

This lead me to think that I could probably only apply to one.

Ah, OK. You are right. I was thinking of the housing form where you put down two preferences. But for the LLC’s, that is right that you have to choose one. I forgot about that.

I honestly don’t think it makes too much difference which you pick. Greenbaum is closer to the library and Newcomb Hall where a lot of classes get held, especially for certain subjects. Wall is closer to the dining hall and to the Reilly Center, where you can work out, swim, etc. Does it say anything about the focus of one of the LLC’s being different than the other? In other words, are there “themes” involved?

I thought last year someones son applied to Wall and Greenbaum? Maybe it was different last year because Greenbaum was new? Wall’s rooms are bigger but GB is brand new. I remember the questions last year for GB were more intensive than the ones for Wall. Wall’s are more fun and quirky.

As far as an easier environments for freshman to transition would Wall or Greenbaum be a better option?

Again, I really don’t think there is any difference. Some might point out that Greenbaum is right across the street from The Boot, the closest college bar, but I don’t really think that is the issue. Barring an actual substantive difference in the “mission” of the dorms, if there is one, I just don’t see how it will make a big difference to be in one or the other.

I just looked on the housing preference page on Tulane and Greenbaum isn’t listed as an option… Any information on this?

It is mixed sophomore and freshman. Not sure why it isn’t listed, but you can definitely apply. Well, 99% sure, since there are freshmen in there this year and it was designed to have freshmen in one area and sophomores in another. You can call housing to confirm, but there shouldn’t be a problem.

Thank you
