Hello I am a current 8th grader applying for Hades schools. I had this great obsession of getting into it but I did a big mistake. Here are my grades for the first marking period.
Science:A
Social Studies:A
Math:A
Health:A+
Gym:A+
Language Arts:B+
Spanish:A
I got one B+. I have been working very hard on my work to make sure i get straight A's but what happend in language arts they had one of those mandatory surprise assessments for the state and i didnt do so good on that. Should i even bother applying? I know you qualify only if you get straight A's

To answer your question, I know kids who received offers at the acronym schools and did not have straight A’s. There is much more that goes into this than just grades, though good grades are important. Equally important is knowing what is important to you in a school, beyond a well-known name.

Yes i know, I do have extracurriculars. I play two sports but I am not really the star of them just a shadow really. But something positive on my application is I have 200 hours of community service done because i love to do it. I was just wondering my chances because alot of people on cc have amazing applications

None of the top schools have an entire admitted class of applicants with straight-A’s. And a lot of the kids on the CHANCES board who boast their straight-A’s haven’t a clue that there is a lot of grade inflation in middle school.

Don’t stress.

Thanks, you made me feel alot better

IDK what you are talking about BHADES. Not one kid I know at a HADES school had received straight as when they applied. I don’t know where you got the straight a’s information, but it is certainly incorrect.

I go to a “HADES” school and i didn’t have straight A’s when I applied. a lot of people i’ve talked to here didn’t have straight A’s either.

What grades did you have, J?

Sent from my ADR6330VW using CC

About a 3.7 or 3.8. In middle school I got a solid mixture of A’s and B’s.
