I was admitted to BU and to the University of California at Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara and UC Davis. I plan to major in anthropology or sociology.

Which of these schools would give me a better chance of preparing for graduate study and where among them would I likely be able to get to know my professors?

We can't really give you proper advice about the other schools, really only BU. Your best bet is to ask students from each of the school how your own is. I don't know much about the anthro program here besides having some friends that really like it. I've always found my professors very accessible. THey want to help you out. I never became particularly close with any of them, but that's just the way I am. Many people keep corresponding with professors, find internships through them, and continue studying with them.

yeah all I know about the anthropology department is there is an outstanding faculty member who teaches the 100 class and I plan on taking it over the summer. He has tons of experience in the field and has the most interesting dig stories from what I hear.
