In the over-analysis category, my daughter auditioned for Ball State at Chicago Unifieds. It is one of her very top picks. Here’s the question – on this forum, I have read about and heard so much about Ball State Bill. Trouble is he did not make it to Chicago Unifieds – I think he and his wife just had a baby. Anyway, do you all think this will negatively impact those kids who auditioned at Unifieds? My D said that they were videotaping, but, it is just so different from being in the room. BTW, she loved the folks in the room and said that they were very receptive and responsive. Her favorite audition at Unifieds by far. These are just the things I fret about in the waning days of February. Time for a donut.
Diva. MY D is a sophmore MTO. I would’t worry about him not being at Unifieds. Their department does a very thorough job and your D will get a fair and detailed assessment, I am sure.
Great department and program. Hope she becomes a Cardinal. Chirp chirp!
Hello, Diva!
I am a junior musical theatre major at Ball State, and I can guarantee that Bill is still very much involved in every single acceptance that is offered to the program. I promise that each audition, whether at Unifieds or on campus, will be equally and fairly assessed. Bill and his wife did just have a baby and he has been on maternity leave to spend time with his family, which is why he did not make it to Chicago Unifieds. However, our BFA Musical Theatre and BFA Acting program coordinators were present in each of the auditions, as well as several of our other faculty members who would have fairly and accurately assessed your daughter’s audition.
Rest assured, Ball State Bill is still heavily involved with the admittance into all 7 of our areas of study in the department of theatre and dance!
If you have anymore questions about our school or program, please let me know!
Thanks!
Jeff
Thanks for the reassuring reply, Jeff! My D had a great auditin experi nce at Unifieds – we just had heard so much on CC about Ball State Bill that she was a little disappointed not to meet him. It sounds like the have the system down. Now we just hold our breath and wait!
My daughter is a Freshman MT major at Ball State. I wouldn’t worry. They are a great group and communicate well. My d loves the school and the program! Fingers crossed for you!
