Should I be considered for CGS?

I’m applying to the School of Education. And I don’t know if I select yes to be considered for the college of general studies. From what I’ve heard, I don’t want to attend CGS if I can go straight into the School of Education. I would rather take start taking classes in my major and in the school/college with my major right away. So my question is… if I select to be considered for CGS, will i first be considered for the school of education… then if I don’t get into the school of education will I be considered for CGS? If I do get into the school of education… and I selected to be considered for the CGS and get into the CGS… can I choose where I want to go? Or if I select to be considered in CGS … do I have to go? >… My concern is that I don’t want to select to be considered for CGS and then have to go to CGS instead of the school of education.

Thanks for your help!!

Also, what is the honors college? Is it just an honors program? If you are accepted are you part of the school/college you applied (in my case school of edu) and are you also part of the honors college? do you recommend to apply?

You should check the box, and decide when and if you get into the program whether to go. If you get into both, you decide. Search CGS in the menu for this forum, and pay particular attention to comments by people who have either been there or have kids that have been there. I’ve posted lot - I think this program is excellent and have tried to explain more about how it works, as our daughter is graduating from CGS and COM this week and highly recommends it when she does tour groups on campus. Ignore anything about grading by the curve (not true) and ignore “people don’t respect them.” Pay attention to specifics about the program. But again, I think you should simply check the darn box and see what happens. The open house they do for admitted students is excellent, and can help you make the right decision for you. You take classes in your major from the first semester.
