Should I be scared for my daughter

Juvenile records are sealed so this could be indeed true. You have to look out for your daughter. The risk is great not knowing the circumstances of this attempted stabbing. Life is too short to have to deal with this worry for the entirety of the program. She might as well switch rooms and roommates. The spending the night elsewhere will make it obvious and may cause the roommate to get angry anyway

I’d rather it be known than a big secret. Kids have juvenile records, or even adult records, and don’t reveal that.

Outrageous, I would be on the phone immediately and be in touch with the program. Call the emergency number they gave you. Next, what are the rules of the program? Does this thing need to be disclosed? Can rooms be changed? How much longer is the program? If I lived within five hours driving time I would be on their doorstep.
Yes, there are people who as kids do silly things. Few would argue that stabbing is on that list. Details matter. Also, I would ask the program what are the rights of students in the program regarding their safety. Many kids would have severe anxiety from something like this.
When my kiddos stay over night with friends I try to at least know something about the kids and parents. I would not be comfortable at all with my kiddos hanging out with someone with a violent past. If several years had transpired, I might feel differently. But if it occurred within the last five years I’d want to know the details. I would also want to know these details if my child were a boarding student or college Freshman.
