Should I believe CB's proposed score for the March '05 Pre-test?

I took the Pre-test for the CB online course today, and did surprisingly well (800 CR, 790 Math, 790 WR). But I am a bit skeptical about the writing score. I got none wrong on the MC portion, but only 8 on the essay. It doesn't seem realistic that I could still get 790 with an 8 essay. In May I had 80 MC subscore (1 wrong) and 7 essay, and that got me a 740. 760 (maybe even 770) would be more realistic for this practice test, right?

Has anybody gotten a 790 on writing with an 8 on the essay?

I got a 790 writing in June with 2 wrong mc, and a 10 essay, so 790 with an 8 essay and none wrong could be feasibly, I guess.

The pretest is the actual test from march, I know because I took the test then. Therefore your score is accurate. If you get enough right on the writing multiple choice, the essay wont bring down your score that much.

But I got 1 wrong MC in may, which still translated to 80 MC subscore, and a 7 essay brought me down to 740. That is why I am so skeptical. How could 1 fewer point bring me down 50 points? Maybe the writing scale was more lenient in March because it was the first time?

because there's a huge difference between a 7 and an 8. if you take a look at the conversion chart, you have to multiply that 7 or 8 by three resulting in a 21 or 24, respectively. Then you add that to the raw MC score for a scaled score. There's a huge difference between the two.

hey i tried to print out that pre-test from the cb site, but it wont open? i press print test and a window pops up and disappears.

I really want to take this test so if someone can email me the thread at tommy_guy12@hotmail.com it would be greatlyyyyyyy appreciated. thanks
