I'm a rising senior and plan to apply for universities RD this December.

These were my scores in May 2012:
SAT Biology M - 740 (80th percentile)
SAT MathII - 770 (79th percentile)

I want to major in either Biology or Statistics (or maybe do a double major?), but it's not really a set thing. The main problem is that I only have 3 test dates left: October, November, December, and I'm already using October to retake the SAT reasoning test.

Also, I'm planning on taking SAT Physics (b/c I scored a 4 on the AP test and want to redeem myself) and SAT Lit (to show I'm a more well-rounded student). Should I take those as well?

Thank you for your input in advance!!!

Your scores are decent enough. Not extraordinary, but decent enough. Sure, go ahead and focus on physics and lit if you’d like, but make sure you leave plenty of time for your essays as well. There will always be someone that scores higher than you, so make yourself stand out with your essays.

Thank you for your input!! I’m actually thinking of just retaking one of them. Which of these scores is considerably worse than the other?

Would a 740 in BioM be considered a “better” score than a 770 in MathII just because of the number of people who score perfect 800s in math? I think I can improve my math score, as I didn’t really study much to get the 770, but I read the entire PR Biology book twice and only got a 740.

Hm… it’s kind of hard to say. 770 in math II is at 84th percentile, but 740 on bio is 93rd percentile. So perhaps retake math then. It really depends on whether you decide to major in bio or stat.

well Math is really a very big deal with schools

That’s true. If you’re really uncertain what major you want to do then, then lean towards retaking math.
