Should i bother?

I'm going to be attending Purdue in the fall as a CIT/CS major and i already have my sights on transferring. Don't get me wrong, its a lovely university and i like the atmosphere for the most part but I don't think it's for me. Coming from NY its a long long way to west laffy. I was planning on transfering to somewhere in MA ( Btwn Boston Uni, Umass AM/Boston or tufts). Its closer to home and i definitely prefer the city atmosphere and possibly living on my own off campus. I am taking tuition into consideration as well, FA sucked and i had to take out an awfully large loan ( or atleast i would say so), I'm aiming for a scholarship or better FA in another school, my backup is if i do happen to get one here that's better than the others I'll just stay.

Question 1: Should I bother? I hear Purdue is pretty high ranked in terms of CIT/CS. Would i just be hindering myself?

Question 2: How difficult is the transfer process?

Question 3: Is Highschool gpa and records still taken into consideration and if so can freshman year in college override?

I can’t really comment on your first two questions, but for the third question, your high school grades will still be weighted quite heavily for sophomore transfers, but significantly less so for junior transfers.

If you have the stats to get into the other schools, you might want to consider taking a gap year. FA is significantly less for transfers, and as such, you may end up paying more, rather than less, if you transfer instead of attending the school directly.

Thanks for the advice! So can anybody give input on Purdue compared to some of the schools in Boston?

Any idea anybody?
