My son has an interview at Rice, should he bring a resume.

Yes. You may not need it, but it would be better to be overprepared than have the interviewer ask for it and he not have one with him.

yes bring it. My interviewer at rice asked for one.

For an interview, the few things one should definitely bring are a resume, transcript, and a few questions for the interviewer. They may not be necessary at all, but it’s better to be prepared.

It can’t hurt to bring one as some interviewers like it as a point of reference. However, you and your son don’t need to obsess over every detail (best formatting, nicest paper, “power words”, etc.).

If used at all, it will only be a point of reference: “Oh hey! I see you are into X. I did that in HS as well. How has it gone for you?”

Some students bring resumes or brag books, but I never use them when I interview. I’ll look at a brag book to be polite but it doesn’t matter in my interviews. But that’s me.

maybe its just rice that does that. all i brought to interviews was a pen and a notepad. nobody asked me for any transcripts etc, they all already had them.

I second skateboarder’s thoughts. I certainly could see where it could be advantageous. But I interviewed with Brown, Yale, and Cornell, and none of them asked for anything.
