Should I buy a Answer/explanation book for my Calc book?

I'm using Calc of a Single Varible by Ron larson, Bruce, David (7th ed) and I'm wondering if I should by the answer and explanation book to supplement my homework. Is this a good idea or do they not give really good explanations? Will it hinder my problem-sloving abilities in any way?

It may but if you're teacher has one, I suggest not buying one, only of course if you are self-studying, then you should or else you probably don't understand at some point how to do some of the problems.

Are you saying that I should just ask my teacher questions in class? Sometimes though, I don't really have time... and how will I complete my hw faster?

Yea, ask the teacher. If you don't ask, then what's the point of going to class. If the teacher isn't doing his job, then there's a problem.

Bump, has anyone ever bought solutions books for any of your texts? What subject do you think they are most useful for? Should I go ahead and buy a used one for 15ish dollars? Will it do anygood? I'm usually stuck on a few problems in calc and I get fustrated because they take me like hours to solve...

If you're still having trouble with problems in the calc book a couple of weeks/month from now, then you should consider. Either that, or if you feel you really aren't sinking into the groove of things. Otherwise, it could be counterproductive to buy the answers manual because it'll provide you with a strong lure to look.

BUY A SOLUTIONS MANUAL! Trust me, it comes in handy when your regular book only gives you the answers. I am in College Calc 2 and I have the solutions manual and a study guide. I do my homework problems and then I check them. The solutions manual not only gives you the answers, but in-depth explanations. If you got the problem wrong, you can easily check what you did wrong. You learn from your mistakes.

DO NOT BUY ONE IF YOU ARE GOING TO LOOK AT IT BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT YOUR HOMEWORK. SET IT ASIDE UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY DONE WITH YOUR HOMEWORK. That way, you won't rely on the solutions manual, because you won't have the solutions manual when you take a test.
