Ive recently been really considering buying a 360 since all my friends in college play CoD: MW 2 and ive been playing it recently and it's really fun. Also, with the new one that came out, i can get one for $150. After buying CoD and xbox live, i figured that the whole thing would cost around $250. the only concern i have about buying one is that it might be obsolete in like 2 years because microsoft might have another gaming system coming out. also, my cousin said that his 360 scratched a bunch of his CDs and had to "buy" new ones. also, i probably won't have much time to play it once i get back to school (but i can probably find some time since my roommates are really into it). what do you think?

It’s going to be obsolete in two years? What does that mean? The SNES’s hardware is probably “obsolete,” but there are still plenty of people who play its games.

If by obsolete you mean “more powerful hardware is available,” then your computer is probably already obsolete. If that’s actually a real concern of yours, then you should stop buying electronics altogether.

^sorry i probably wasn’t clear with that issue. i meant that maybe microsoft was coming out with a new gaming console in a few years and everybody would get that thing and stop using a 360. (think buying the original xbox the month before the release of the 360) also, my main concern is moreso the whole 360-scratching-your-games thing. has anybody else had any problems with this or is this just a select few i know?

My boyfriend recently got a 360 and he’s always ranting to me about Microsoft being so cheap. He says that you have to pay for internet connection, pay for batteries so the controller doesn’t die (or else buy some hardware that will allow you to charge the controller by plugging it into the 360), and that the thing itself is fragile and will scratch the game inside it even if it’s barely moved. And then there’s the red light of doom I hear all the time from 360 players.

I have a PS3, on the other hand, and he wishes he did, too. Free internet connection, free controller charging, and it won’t break or scratch the games. There’s also a MW2 for PS3, so you’d be all set there. The only thing is that the PS3 is very expensive.

Of course, you could always get a Wii… which only just got its hands on the original CoD. xD

Xbox 360 really is a very cheap form of entertainment.
Xbox 360 + controller = $200
Xbox Live = $50/year
2-3 xbox games = $150
Total: $400

It really is a bargain considering how much time you, your friends, and your family will probably use it.

was it really necessary to make this topic? maybe you can try thinking for yourself and make your own purchasing decisions based on the countless threads on the Internet that have asked this EXACT SAME QUESTION.

By getting xbox both your social and academic life will suffer :)

i agree with overachiever. it can only hurt your school and social life. there are no benefits other than maybe stress reduction, which can be achieved through free activities such as exercise, volunteering, reading, etc.
