Should I cancel my score?

I took Math IC this morning. I felt really confident on everything, and I probably didn't miss more than 1 or 2 in the entire first 45 questions.

I ran out of time to do the last 5, so I guessed on all of them (because technically you should get 1 of those 5 right, and the other 4 will be wrong. It's better than omitting because there's a probable chance that I could get even 2 of the 5 that I guessed on correct).

Anyways, assuming that I got all of those 5 that I guessed on wrong, and assuming that I got 2 wrong in the rest of the test, what should I do? Should I wait and see my score, and then retake if it's bad? Or should I immediately cancel it altogether so it doesn't appear on my transcript? I am currently competitive for any school I want, and I plan on going to an Ivy league or MIT/Duke etc.

This was my first SAT II. I will be taking Biology M, Math IIC, and USHistory next year, and I think I'll do outstanding on all of them because the material will be fresh in my mind. Those will be the SAT II's that I submit to colleges.

With the fact that I want to go to a top 10 school in mind, will a 700 or even a 650 in Math IC hurt my chances? I don't plan on submitting this score to any colleges because I'll be taking Math IIC next year and that test is a breeze.

"It's better than omitting because there's a probable chance that I could get even 2 of the 5 that I guessed on correct"

Based on this math, yes, you should most definitely cancel.

But seriously, you're probably looking at a 720+ (720 if you got all your guesses wrong and 2 wrong on the rest of the test) depending on how lucky you get.

Err.. I know my reasoning is sort of ridiculous, so I'll take your sarcasm with a grain of salt :)

But would ~700 be alright for the schools I'm interested in?

Well, schools of that caliber typically would like to see 750+ on SAT IIs, but I don't think a 700 would hurt your chances. Your taking math II next year which means much more to those colleges anyway. And who knows, you still have a shot at a 750+. Just keep your fingers crossed until June 21st.

Well, I know I can do better than a 720. And I won't be submitting that to any colleges, but rather higher-level SAT II's.

All SAT 2 scores are submitted to colleges if you send the score report. You can't send some and not others with the collegeboard service.

I know that, but surely the three you actually list carry more weight.

Bump. Really need help.

More opinions, please.

brosfam, it's just an opinion...but if ur aiming for top 10 colleges i highly doubt they would be impressed with even an 800 in math 1, an 800 in math 2 is not that difficult in fact. don't worry about ur score in math 1 tho, i took it in 9th grade and got 650 but then 800 in math 2. focus on math 2.

you shouldn't cancel it...well you're taking math 2 right? i BOMBED on time management on the math II this tmie around, and Im not going to cancel the scores because colleges like to see improvement...say you get a 600--they're gnona lkie that you got a 750 the second time around
