Should I change my major? UCR?

Hello, I am an incoming freshman, hoping and praying to get into UCR! I applied as a biology major, but with my avergae stats, I fear that my chances are slimmed, due to this. On the MyUCR portal, theres an option to change your major… Would it be wise to change it to communications, just to advance my chances? The university has already received my app! Thank you.

UCR does not have a major named “communications”, according to http://www.ucr.edu/academics/undergradmajors.html .

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/freshman-admission-matrix.pdf says that “UCR does not consider a student’s major in admission decisions unless the declared major is a selective major.”

http://chassstudentaffairs.ucr.edu/undeclared_program/major_declaration/selective.html appears to be the only list of UCR selective majors, but that only applies to the humanities and social studies division. There is no such list in UCR’s natural science division (where biology is). So you may have to ask directly to find out if biology is a selective major at UCR.

If you get an answer please let us know. I think bio may be selective there because of the health sciences support.
