Should I choose to get a "W" or a "B" letter grade and lower my 4.0 GPA?

I want to apply to UC Berkeley and UCLA.
I don't know if I should drop the class and get a "W" or stay in the class and earn a letter grade of a "B".
I am currently in my 3rd semester, and earning a "B" in this class would ruin my 4.0 GPA. If I do drop the class, this would be my first "W". Which would look worse on a transcript? Any suggestions?

If you think you deserve a better grade than a B then drop the class and try to get an A next time. A “B” won’t really hurt you though.

A B looks better than a W.

If you think you could get an A next time, take the W. Normally they don’t look great, but any admissions counselor would know that you probably weren’t on the verge of failing the class with As in every other class.

Take the B. Do you really, truly want to have to retake this whole course just to raise your GPA by that much? Spend those tuition dollars on something else!

Take the B - Ws are for Cs and below, IMO. A W is like a nuclear weapon: use it as a last resort and not more than once.

How about neither? Talk to the professor, find out if there is ANY way to get an A, if you are just a few points away from getting it, why not try?
