Here is my situation: Freshman/CS student/entrepreneur
Currently at a small university with an average reputation and a small CS program.
My goal - get in to Berkeley, backup would be UCSD or any other UC
My plan - starting a tech company in LA with a family member after freshman year, work on the business for a year, establishing residency in California. If all goes well, I won't even go to school =P
But most likely, that won't happen so I need a plan to go back to school, but I would have options to go to UC's where I financially didn't have access to otherwise.

Anyways, so after I establish residency, I would most likely go to a community college for a semester or two to load up on required credits. I currently have less credits than everyone else, because I started with a light load. Also now, I am doing poorly in one math class, I cannot earn an A in. My options are:

Currently have around 4.0 GPA, if I drop this I would probably have a 3.9-4.0 but only around 27 credits.
If I keep the class, I would have to put a lot of time in to the class that could be put in to other classes, so it would probably result in my GPA being 3.6 or 3.7'ish, and 30 credits.

My question is down the road when I am applying to the UC's, would they rather see someone with a 4.0 and a couple of W's (withdrawal of class), or someone with a 3.6 and no W's? Also remember, that this is not like I will be transferring directly after freshman year. In fact it would probably be around a year to a year and a half later that I would even APPLY to them. So I am not sure if this would have any impact on which choice I should make. Opinions on the withdrawing from the class, and my whole plan in general would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
