Im planning to apply to CSULB as an undeclared major. They don’t have health sciences on their major list, nursing is too competitive, and public health does not interest me. My question is: if i choose undeclared as my major and i get accepted into that school, would it be difficult for me to get my nursing pre reqs and complete them in time since i don’t have first priority???
Why not apply for Microbiology or another Biology related science major instead of Undeclared? Many of the science related major requirements will overlap with the Nursing pre-req’s and you would higher priority since you are already in the major.
You could call CSULB advising and ask if going in as Undeclared would be a disadvantage. CSULB is an impacted campus so all majors including Undeclared will be impacted. I really so no advantage in selecting Undeclared.
@Gumbymom Hmm, i totally agree with what you’re saying, i will look into it what about undeclared as my alternate major? Does it honestly even matter?
Majority of the CSU’s do not routinely consider alternate majors. Cal Poly Pomona is the only CSU that does consider alternate majors consistently. According to CSULB’s website, you can only apply to CSULB with a specific major or Undeclared. Only “local” in-service area applicants that are not accepted into their specific major can be accepted into Undeclared so it seems that CSULB will not consider an alternate major with local’s being the exception.
At CSULB, are the biology and microbiology major under the STEM EI? @Gumbymom
Yes, these majors would be under the STEM EI.
