Help! I have a huge dilemma! I was accepted into UT Liberal Arts honors program with a strong financial aid package (Id only be paying 6k a year), but I was also accepted into Rice! I think Rice is better because it’s smaller, but their financial aid package was not so great but doable with loans. I really can see myself at either school, sports aren’t really something that is a factor, and I want to major in economics. Please let me know what you think!
@stressed2k17 It sounds like you are an excellent student to get accepted to Rice and UT honors. I think that Rice is probably considered the more prestigious school, but I don’t think that it’s worth saddling yourself with lots of student loans. My background is not in economics, so I can’t tell you how a degree in economics from Rice or UT will factor into your potential career path. For chemical engineering, it certainly would not matter between those two schools. In fact, UT has a more extensive alumni network and better campus recruiting than Rice.
If you’re happy with both schools, I would certainly go with the better financial option. It’s simple “economics”!
How much in loans?
If significant savings, go with UT Honors, great program, great price
