As of right now I am planning of majoring in Engineering(Not sure what area specifically). All the schools i am looking at have a limited enrollment in their schools of engineering and they are competitive (e.g. Maryland College Park). If I am applying to College Park or any other schools like its program (Penn State, NC State, etc) should i say im undecided or engineering? Will that affect my chances of getting in?

You need to look carefully at the admission policies of each school. At some schools if you apply to engineering and are not accepted that’s it, even if you could have been accepted to the Letters & Science college. Others consider you for an alternate major so you have nothing to lose by trying for engineering.

The problem with applying as something else and then later trying to switch is that the bar is much higher to xfer into engineering than it is to stay once you are in. So a B- sophomore in engineering gets to graduate; a B- sophomore applying to change majors into engineering is likely denied.
