Should I disregard the email my community college sent me about filing for financial aid for 2022/2023?

Good evening, users

I will speak to a financial aid advisor. When I have free time.

I already answered my own question. Just wanted to know you’re opinions.

I’m already covered all the way till Spring 2022 and the Pell has been accepted.

But For 2022 Summer & Fall for future 2023, I won’t be at CC anymore since I will graduate with my AES degree in May 2022.

it would be useless to fill it out. Since I have not yet chosen a university to attend.

I’m thinking of applying to a Uni, once I finish up everything all the way and be 100% sure.

I don’t want to fill out the FAFSA and choose the Uni, if I send up failing 1 course at CC college, that’s going to cause a big gap.

I want to be finished 100% with the AES degree and take a little break from education, work a little bit then take my time figuring out which Uni I want to sign up, if they admit me.

I would very strongly suggest you see the transfer advisor at your community college ASAP to formulate a plan for what you will be doing next.

If you plan to start at a university in fall 2022, you will need to apply to that university AND apply for financial aid adhering to the deadline the college had. Don’t miss those deadlines.

At this point, you should be figuring out where you plan to apply for fall 2022 admission and get your applications completed and sent. Look for the college application deadlines and the financial aid deadlnes.

It doesn’t do any harm to apply for FAFSA for 2022-23. You can have it sent to your CC and if you don’t graduate in Spring 22, it will be ready to go for the 1-2 courses you need to complete at the community college …or…if you do decide to go right to the next university in fall or spring (23), you can go into your FAFSA and have it sent to the colleges you are applying to. That is very easy to do.

If you don’t go to college right away, no harm. It doesn’t cost anything to file the FAFSA and if you don’t sent it to any other colleges, it just sits there.

Fill out the FAFSA at the best time for you financially and when you have the time. If you just sold a house and have a lot of money in your bank, wait. If you have low assets now and have time and past tax info now, do it now.

The way I do things is the course must be finished and no choice to get a C or B depends if I aim for an A.

Failing is not an option since Financial Aid will hunt a student down and deny or decrease the Pell for a failing course.

Never knew the Pell grant can just sit there  Learned something new.

Likewise thanks

The Pell grant can’t just sit there, but there is no Pell grant if you don’t file the FAFSA.

You’ve filed for 2021 and 22. Your Pell grant was awarded for this fall and next spring. If you do nothing, you are done. All is good. You’ll go to school and get your award. Some schools use the current year FAFAS for the summer awards, some use the next year. If you aren’t going for summer '22, nothing to worry about, but if your school uses 2022-23 for the summer of '22, and you need to go to school next summer, you won’t get a Pell award.

You don’t need to complete the next FAFSA if you are sure you aren’t going to school summer or fall '22. It is the FAFSA that just sits there, not the Pell grant (or other FA award).n The FAFSA doesn’t get forwarded to schools until you put in the code for the info to be sent to the school.
