I failed a Business Calculus course and then retook it a different community college and passed it. I'll be eligible for AR after this fall at the community college where I originally failed the class. Should I get AR and then inform the UCs of the AR in the Spring 2013 update, or should I just let it be since I retook the class at a different community college? The college where I passed the class is not within the same district, so it's not like it automatically lines out the failing grade.

Thanks!

You must list all grades for all classes you’ve ever taken. I would as a counselor if it’ll benefit you to use AR, as UCs will only use the passed grade for GPA< and ignore your failed grade.

In terms of UC admissions, it doesn’t matter. Your grades are entered electronically and when they see AR they’ll know it was an F, whereas if you inputted the F for the first class there will be an option when you input the 2nd class to select that will say something like “replaces Bus Calc at college X spring 2011.” Either way, the F won’t be factored into your GPA.

I would do the AR for 2 reasons:
- It’ll look a little nicer on the UC app to not have multiple asterisks taking up space
- if you apply to grad school or a job where they require all transcripts, it will be better to have that F taken out of your GPA on that transcript.
