Should I do Humanities in Hitch Suites?

I will be a freshman next Fall and I'm wondering whether anyone can give some advice as to whether I should sign up to be part of the Humanities French group living in the Hitch suites.
I would love the opportunity to improve my French on a daily basis with others, but I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of people and maybe a suite isn't the best place for that? My bigger concern is that everyone I'm rooming with will be other mediocre French speakers like me and we won't really get anywhere and I'll have given up a room in either a plaza or residence hall for nothing.

Does anyone have experience with themed dorms? Are they a good experience? Do you tend to not get a good mix of personalities and interests on themed floors?

Will I be at a disadvantage in meeting more people if I live in a suite?

Thanks

Most of the people I know at UCLA don’t like the suites because they’re more isolated socially and physically. People mostly tend to stay to themselves and they’re the furthest up the hill, meaning you’ll have the longest walk to and from class every morning. I have no experience with themed dorms but if it sounds interesting to you then by all means go for it, but after my time here at UCLA I believe that everyone should have a freshman experience living in the crammed and busy halls where you’ll ending up meeting the tons of people you’ll be hanging out with for the next 4 years!
