Hitch Suites / Meal Plan questions!

Hi, I'm an international exchange student from Brazil, going to UCLA for the 2006-2007 academic year, and just received my housing offer for the Hitch Suites, triple, and am about to accept it.

I wanted to ask what some of you think of the Hitch Suites. They seem a little... disconnected from the rest of the campus, and I can't seem to find interior photos! Are they nice? Should I try asking for housing reallocation? Anyone else here going to the Hitch?
I do like the fact that I got a suite, but I'd rather be on a double room, and a bit closer to the center of the campus, if at all possible.

The other question is regarding the meal plans -- if I pick the basic, 11-meal plan, can I pay extra later if it isn't enough? What exactly is the difference between the packages? 11 meals a week seems like more than enough for me, considering that I'd rather eat breakfast in the dorm, and it's pretty reasonable to expect 3 or 4 meals per week to be had outside the cafeteria. Or is the meal plan not just for the cafeteria, but for all food on campus? That would justify getting the 14 meal/week plan, I think.

One more thing -- when do you think I'll be receiving information on who will be sharing the room with me?

Thanks for any help!!

I'd recommend the 14 (blue/regular) meal plan. that's enough for 2/day, and you can always use them at the little boutique restuarants on the hill (bruin cafe, rendezvous, crossroads.

Hitch is pretty far, but so are hedrick (which i'm in) and hedrick summit, and it's not bad at all. although, hitch is supposedly less social. however, if you do switch to a resident hall or suite in terrace/vista then you'd be in a triple and they are pretty small. but VERY social in the resident halls, good for first years. it's not so much the distance i'd be worried about but rather the social deal.

Good luck!
