Should I do this and spend a year at a community college?

I live in NYC. I went to Pace University for a year and absolutely hated it. I was so unmotivated that I ****ed up my GPA and ended up with a cumulative GPA of 2.45. I haven't been in school for close to a year and I'm getting desperate and lonely.

I applied to Rutgers and unfortunately I did not get accepted due to my low GPA. Anyway, one option they told me was to attend Middlesex County College for a year and then transfer directly to Rutgers but I'm not sure if I want to do that.

Part of the reason I wanted to go to Rutgers was the social/college life and campus. I've been extremely lonely this past year and was really hoping to dorm and socialize in a large school.

I'm also applying to:
SUNY Purchase
CUNY Hunter
CUNY Brooklyn
CUNY City College

My major would be Psychology, but to be honest, I'd rather go to a school with a social and active environment than to go to a school with a great program and be miserable.

What do you suggest guys? Should I go to Middlesex for a year and then transfer?

I think it would be good if you attended Middlesex CC for a year before you transfer. Middlesex is a great CC that I’ve heard of (and I’m in Seattle, so that’s saying something) and there’s always the chance of becoming involved in a bunch of activities through school if you’re seeking out any social opportunities.

I think you have a great list of schools that you want to transfer to, and Rutgers is certainly in reach for you. 4-year Colleges, from what I’ve heard, like to see upward trends in grades from transfer students.

Best of luck to you!
