Should I drop any of these classes for my senior year?

As i’m heading into my senior year, I am beginning to get worried about my schedule. I currently have AP Biology, AP Calculus A/B, AP Physics 1, AP Literature, US History II, and Sports/Entertaining Marketing. I plan on going the pre-med route in college which is why I have a very math/science based schedule. The main class I am worried about is AP Literature. I am not a very good writer and absolutely hated AP Lang. The teacher I had made my junior year hell and I do not want to go through that again, although I will have a different teacher. Should I just stick with it and pull through or drop the class? Last year I took AP Chem, AP Psychology, and AP Language/Composition. AP Lang was the only class to give me trouble. I want to relax my senior year but I do not want to ruin my chances in getting into certain colleges. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks

From my experience, lit is very time consuming from all of the reading you (should) do. Honestly if you don’t want the added stress caused by time management issues, either take lit but put taking the AP exam for it on a lower priority or drop the class altogether. If you have a couple of weeks to take the class before you can drop it, maybe “test the waters” with this AP Lit teacher to see what the syllabus is like / what the expectations are…

Going to second @homessd. AP Literature was difficult for me to study for when I was juggling 2 other AP courses and several EC’s. That said, English had always been one of those subjects I enjoyed and it came more naturally to me so I was able to get a 5.

I think in general, if you have difficulty with Language, you’ll have some trouble with Literature. Language almost seems antecedent to Literature. If all you were taking for AP’s were Literature and maybe one other subject, I’d say you should give it a spin, but you’re fairly loaded up on AP’s already.

AP Literature is a very rigorous Classical Literature&Humanities class for students who love reading or are aiming for a Humanities/Social Science major. Since that’s not you and you’re already stressed out, go see your guidance counselor and see if you can drop it and take Honors English (see if there’s an English seminar, some high schools offer those to seniors). No college will “ding” you for not taking AP Lit.
