Should I drop AP Lit?

I'm a rising senior and haved signed up for the following classes
AP Eco/Gov
AP Euro
AP Lit
Contemporary Issues
History of NYC
College Media (college credit through local college)
Physics
Algebra 2/ Trig
I'm fine with all of my classes except AP Lit I know this class is going to be a ton of work and I know I could handle it but I honestly don' want to deal with all the stress that comes with tons of HW. I have suffered from a severe anxiety disorder since I was 14 and between college apps and all my other classes I don't want to add anything to my plate and want to enjoy my last year at home. By the time I graduate I will have 6 AP classes (without lit) and 2 pre-AP classes. I have a solid GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Is it worth dropping AP Lit?

I took AP Lit my senior year and the work is doable… The reason for taking AP is to get college credit through the AP test… which I felt confident going into, but maybe 2 or 3 students in my senior class passed with a 3 or higher. So it depends, I thought English was my subject, but apparently not.

If your school has a generous class-drop system, you could always try seeing if it’s manageable in your schedule (as in, not as stressful as you’d anticipated), and dropping it if it isn’t. Otherwise, I’d say drop it. The stress from one class isn’t worth jeopardizing your success in your other classes, or your health.

If you drop it, will you have enough English credits to graduate? Meet entrance requirements for the colleges you’re considering?

What do you want to study in college? Will the AP Lit class help you to do better when you get there?

My school has a laughable class-drop system (you can drop a class entirely and get your free period listed as “Advanced Latin”). You may want to check in with your counselor if you haven’t already done so.
