I’m currently attending Mott Community College as a freshman, and I’m planning on transferring this fall to MSU. I applied back in January with a GPA of about 3.4, under the Kinesiology major. I got a reply back in about a month, stating that they’d like to see my winter semester grades before making a decision. Also, I have recently decided against going into the Kinesiology major after taking anatomy and physiology, and the overall money in personal training is not very good. I am currently in the Winter semester here at Mott taking 14 credit hours(since I needed 28 to transfer without submitting highschool transcripts), and I have 3.0 in Trig, 3.5 in ENGL 102, 3.5 in Economics, and a 1.0 in Anatomy and Physiology 152. I’m very stressed out, this class was WAY harder than I anticipated. The semester is coming to an end within a few weeks, and I need to make a decision to whether withdraw and take a “W”, or just risk the 1.0 on my GPA. If I take the “W”, I would have to take a accelerated summer course the ends at end June in order to make up for those credits lost. Is this going to hurt my chances of making it into MSU this fall? What should I do?
BUMP
I would withdraw and either I guess don’t retake it because you did mention you not wanting to study kinesiology anymore, or just retake it later on when you feel more prepared (now that you’ve taken it, I’m sure you’re more familiar with the material, and know how difficult it will be) and feel that your study skills are more established for that class. If you do still intend on studying an allied health/ healthcare related degree, for it will most likely be required, go for it next semester in the new school. Honestly, if you really want to transfer, it’s better to have that W than the 1.0 that will smash your overall GPA. BTW: you aren’t the only one who doesn’t do so hot the first time taking this class, so don’t feel bad about that, the class has an overall national 60% drop out rate, so you are not by any means alone. I wish you luck in whatever decision you make! Xx
Drop Anatomy and Physiology. It won’t hurt, the only thing it will is that you have to take it again at MSU.
"What should I do? "
If it were me I would withdraw. Partly because I don’t think that the D will do you much good, partly so that you can focus on your other classes in what little is left in the term, and partly because life is too short.
From what I have heard (from a different student at a different U) Anatomy and Physiology is tough, and personally I would do something different. However, only you can decide whether you think that you could do substantially better if you were to take it again.
I’d withdraw if it was me
