Should I Early Action?

So here's my problem:

I'm applying to a bunch of schools and a couple of them have Early Action options.

Here's just a veryveryvery quick summary of me:

SATs - 1900 (dsghsdk! :|) , 610 verb 640 math

I'm retaking them in Oct I'm hoping to bump up a bit.

I did HORRID on my SATIIs but I might retake both that I took in November.. just so I can send them to the schools in like December (or whenever I receive the grades) if they're still mulling over my apps. =P
GPA - 3.2 ish?
ECs - Manager of boy's Soccer team (junior & senior year)
Russian Club (member Sophomore year, President Junior & Senior years)
Editor-in-Chief of my 2008 yearbook (1024 seniors!!!!! eek)
200+ hrs Community Service at a Jewish Center
APs - I didn't do so hot on my APs
Eng Lang - 3

Environmental - 3

This year the APs I'm taking are Eng Lit and Bio.

I know I'm not a Harvard applicant, I know I'm not the best student out there, I know I don't have great EC's or even good ones, but I want to go to college just like the rest of you so I do need some help.

If it counts for anything I go to a good school which has some name value.

I am applying to:

Bentley College
CUNY Baruch
Northeastern University
Penn State University – Smeal
Syracuse University – Whitman
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Albany
University of Connecticut
University of Delaware – Lerner
University of Massachusetts at Amherst – Iseberg
University of Pittsburgh
University of Vermont

UConn, Bentley, and Vermont have EARLY ACTION.
Penn State, Bing, and Pittsburgh are ROLLING.

OKAY, here's the thing. I plan on finishing everything maybe the third week in September, and handing everything to my college office (they organize transcripts, yada, yada)

Should I just EA at those Early Action schools since I'm sending all of these apps early anyways, or will it just hurt my chances? Should I EA at one school, not another...!? something. I don't know.

Please help me.

Any advice in general? Tell me what my chances are? I dunno.

I'm thinking it's an accept @ Baruch, Buff, Albany, and UMass. The others I've got no clue. I think that's good though. Four safeties, rest matches and reaches.

thank you for reading! I'll appreciate any advice at ALL about any of these schools, even if it has nothing to do with my other queries.

Have a lovely day.

early action is good if you can get your materials ready by that time and if you want to hear answers earlier. They won't hurt your chances at all. they may slightly improve your chances at the school depending on which one it is

thanks frutiaspice!

Actually, here's something you might want to consider-

Do you think you can get your gpa up by 2nd semester? If you can, it may just be worth it to wait so that they can see your first semester grades before they make a decision.

^^^ I read that in the US News college edition...

You might as well apply early action if you can; it will just let you know sooner.

What state are you from? Here is what I think:

Bentley-match
CUNY Baruch-match
Northeastern University-match
Penn State University – Smeal-match/reach
Syracuse University – Whitman-match/reach
SUNY Buffalo-match/safety
SUNY Binghamton-match/reach
SUNY Albany-match/safety
University of Connecticut-if you are OOS from NJ, NY applying biz-WL
University of Delaware – Lerner-match
University of Massachusetts at Amherst – Iseberg-match/safety?
University of Pittsburgh-reach?
University of Vermont-match

I think that you should apply EA and if you are deferred, they might ask for your grades from the first semester of senior year. At least you might know where you stand if you get in, or if you are deferred.

Thanks so much northeast mom! I'm from NYC. I think most of those are dead-on, except for Baruch which is a definite supersafety. In general, what do you (or anyone else) think of those schools?

I have another question. I'm taking my SATs over in October, and then SAT IIs in November. I'll send them my original 1900 in the application, but when I recieve the new grades can I just send them as well or do I have to verify the schools, or what?

Thank you!!!

my stats are pretty similar (very similar, in fact) and i'm applying EA to a few schools too, and from what I've heard EA doesn't dramatically increase or decrease your chances of acceptance, it just allows you to find out sooner. I'm also applying to Northeastern. Not sure if I should apply early, though.

Baruch is an excellent school for business majors, so I am surprised that it is such a safety. Perhaps that is bc housing is an issue.

I am sorry, but I am not sure about what you are asking regarding the SATs. I know that you used to be able to list 4 schools to receive scores at no charge if you list them when you register. I don't know if this is still correct. If you want the schools to have those scores, why not just list them all when you register for the exams and pay for the scores to be sent? I imagine that you won't have a chance to see the results before you decide to send them, but you might check that they look at the highest scores. In that case, if you don't do well, it should not hurt you.

I also just sent a PM to you.
