I did terrible on the ALEKS, didn't take AP Chemistry in High School, and am afraid that I am gonna get killed in honors. Is it really that more difficult to be in CH301H as opposed to just CH301? Please help! I am so torn whether to weather the storm or just drop down to an easier course.

I would just take CH301. Of course, having CH301H on your transcript may look better, but I think a higher grade in CH301 would outweigh that risk.

I took engineering honors physics many moons ago. What a huge mistake! I was an excellent student in HS, so I thought I could handle it. WRONG! I should have switched to regular physics, but it would have hurt my pride. So instead, I hurt my GPA! From what my son tells me, even CH301 assumes you had a good HS chemistry class. I agree with henryj - I would take CH301. Good luck!

NO NO NO NO NO!!! You would die in Honors Chem since you did not take AP Chemistry!!! It’s best to do well your freshman and sophomore years so that you build up a fabulous GPA. Ok, I got a 3 on AP Calculus BC and I can claim credit for M 408C and take M 408D, but I barely understood calculus in high school and I know if I take M 408D, I’m going to FAIL. So, that’s why I’m starting over in calculus. You should just take the regular route. But, seriously if you didn’t take AP (which would be learning all the basics for Honors Chem), don’t even bother.
