Should I even bother applying to UMD (University of Maryland) College Park?

Really if I had to describe myself I'm pretty reserved. I haven't had a job and have no volunteer experiences.

My overall GPA is around 3.2/3.8 (UW/W) my SAT is an 1880.

I am an AP scholar with honor, an honor roll student and my gpa has increased each year i've been in school.

By the time I graduate I will have taken 9 AP classes (World, HUG, APUSH, Calc AB, Calc BC, Computer Science, Econ, Lang and Lit)

along with something around 15 honors classes.

My e/c are:

One year of assisted tennis (varsity sport credit, helping special ed kids play tennis)
four years of SGA
two years of Best Buddies (Special ed peer buddy program)
one year of CAI (central Asian institute)
one year of Interact

I really don't have any leadership positions, Work experience or Volunteer experience. Should I even bother applying to UMDCP and if not what about UMBC.

Thanks everybody!!

Apply. I think you have a chance.

I know for sure, however, that you won’t have a chance if you don’t apply. Just write good essays.

You actually have a decent chance…are you instate? If you dont get in, which is solely because of your GPA in my opinion (as your SAT is not high, but average), apply for freshman connections for spring semester

yes I’m instate and just fyi my SAT breakdown

CR - 640 Math - 640 WR- 600

Honors program might be a reach. Since you are in-state, you have a average chance of getting in. GPA seems a bit low, but most people have SAT scores around the 1900-2000 range.

Your stats are a little low, the lack of leadership and community service is an issue as well, but I think it is worth applying.
