I started playing soccer for my high school junior year but I found out I don't like soccer and have decided to not play it senior year.

Should I even list it, its not like its going to help at all right?

Unless you are really light on ECs, I wouldn’t.

@intparent

What exactly would you define as light?

Here are my EC’s, should I add it?

Varsity Track- 4 years
Academic Team-4 years
NHS- 1 year (you can only join junior and senior year)
History club- 2 years
Karate- 4 years
Family Business Job- All my life
Basketball League- 3 years
Internship- 1 year
Some volunteer work

Bump

Still not sure yet whether I should include it or not. Will it not help my chances at all? Will it look like I’m college padding if I add it?

Personally, I think you should leave it off. Your other EC’s are pretty good, actually, so I don’t think listing 1 year of soccer will benefit you. And honestly, I think adding a sport that you only did one year (and quit because you didn’t like it) looks like you’re just going for quantity.

I don’t think it will make any difference either way. But I would put it on if you have room because it accounts for quite a few hours that you are busy after school that season.There is nothing wrong or to be held against you, for trying a new sport one year and deciding not to continue. It doesn’t look like anything.
