I recently came back from Tuskegee University and have a 99% have a full ride to study Computer Engineering. I loved it so much, but since my first year of high school I had other schools on my radar (but not as much as Tuskegee). I planned on applying to:
Georgia Tech
Brown
Rice
Florida A&M University
If I went to the above schools I’d have to pay about 10k per year (and I plan on going to law school after undergrad).Should I even bother applying to these other schools when I feel pretty confident I am going to Tuskegee? I’ve just known these schools for a long time.
If you can go to Brown or Rice for 10K per year, I think that is amazing and I would not turn that down. Probably same for GT.
Apply broadly. If Tuskegee is still #1 in your mind go there. Great school. I don’t know how you can attend those public Us in different states for $10K.
For each other school, is there any chance you may choose the other school over Tuskegee? If so, then it may be worth an application there so that you have the option to decide later.
Here are Tuskegee’s scholarship criteria, so that you can check what scholarship you can get: https://www.tuskegee.edu/programs-courses/scholarships/freshman-scholarships . Note that the full ride requires maintaining a 3.5 college GPA.
Does your family have enough money to spend $10k/year on your education? Or would you be taking out loans? As a student, there are limits on the amount of federal loans you can take each year.
