I was wondering if I should get my ACT writing section rescored because:

These are they comments they left for the first time I took the ACT. "Comments on Your Essay: Your essay adequately supported general statements with specific reasons, examples, and details."
I received 8.

The next time I took it I also received an 8. "Comments on Your Essay: Your essay adequately supported general statements with specific reasons, examples, and details. Your essay maintained focus on the specific issue in the prompt."

Since my goal was to get at least a 10, I bought the Real ACT prep book and read the tips for the writing section. I read the examples and noticed that the person who scored a 6 had a separate paragraph for the counter-argument whereas previously I just included in it a body paragraph. After reading this tip along with other, I was ready for the June ACT.

Today, I got back my writing score which was a 9. I was happy with an improvement but was hoping for more.

The comments they left were "Comments on Your Essay: Your essay showed recognition of the complexity of the issue by addressing counterarguments. General statements in your essay were well supported with specific reasons, examples, and details. Your essay was well organized, making it easy to understand logical relationships among ideas. Some varied sentence structures and precise word choice added clarity and interest to your writing."

After reading their comments it sounds like those ACT writing tips helped immensely, however, the score had not. The comments were very strong and after reading the writing score explanation for 5 and 6 essays on actstudent.org, I see that I had many of the same comments.

I figure that if 1 person gave me a 5 and the other a 4, perhaps if I have them rescore it, I have a pretty good shot of increasing to a 10. Has anyone had any luck with having them rescore the essay?
