Should i get my GED or finish high school?

I currently have a 1.88 unweighted GPA and I need a 2.0 for Ole Miss. They want an 18 on the ACT i scored a 21. I also took the SAT and scored a 480 in writing a 500 in reading and 570 in math. I was thinking if i dropped out and got my GED than applied they would look at my GED and my standardized test scores and see that i would be a good fit at The University of Mississippi. If i didn't drop out they may look at my GPA and not like what they see. Any comments or suggestions?

I do understand i could attend community college for a year or two but i would like to avoid that at all cost....

Thank you for your time and input.

You need to think long and hard about the reasons for your current GPA of 1.88. Do you honestly think that you are going to do things differently at Ole Miss? Do you honestly think that you are prepared for college-level classes?

The best indication that you will do well in college is a good set of HS grades in challenging courses. Even if you could ace the GED, your HS grades indicate serious problems that may have to do with your study habits, your diligence in doing your homework, your attendance, your choice of classes, your physical or mental health, or other factors. You won’t succeed in college until you deal with whatever it is that has caused you to have such low grades.

Figure out what you would change in order to raise your grades. If you can commit to that, you will know whether any kind of higher education is for you right now and either the GED to Ole Miss or HS to Community College to Ole Miss pathway could work. If you aren’t ready to commit to change, look for a short program (6 months to a year) that will prepare you for direct entry into the workforce, and go to college later on when you are really ready for it.

Wishing you all the best.

I don’t see any mention of GEDs being considered as acceptable in lieu of high school GPA unless it might qualify under the Other Admission Criteria section of this link:
