if you can get your test scores up, I see no reason for you to not be a very strong candidate. start working on that sat and/or act now or over the summer and you’ll have plenty of time to get 2300+ or 34+, which will complete an otherwise already competitive application.

Yeah, I would second what theyeaman has said, in terms of getting your SATs up. I think 2250+ would be a good target for you to reach, and at least 700+ in each subject area, or the equivalent 34+ on ACT. Also, make sure you study for the AP exams (try to aim for mostly 5s), as those are important too, because if you score too poorly on those, the admissions office may think that your school is highly grade inflated.

yeah, i will definitely do that, i think it was part nerves on test day (i realized after i left the test i made calculator errors for grid ins, like punching in a 4 instead of 3 ect), so hopefully when i retake in june i will be a little more carefuland get my scores up to at least a 2200!

I just recently received admission and my SAT superstore was 2020. So you have a chance where you stand, it’s not impossible. But you could increase your possibility of admission with higher test scores (as the 2 above mentioned).

@CesVar even though you did have a 2020 and get accepted (congrats btw!), what were your ECs and other things like? As that and steller essays can make all of the difference!

I have had a couple leadership positions (most prominently in student council), I’m in Hi-Q (quiz bowl), Tech Club, I’m heavily involved in orchestra (I in the local Youth Symphony and in an honor quartet). I also did gymnastics for about 8 years, and I won first at two jr. International competitions.
I don’t think it was my essay (I didn’t write the optional one, just the CommonApp essay) honestly, though I did try to convey my passion for music. I also sent an arts supplement.
I couldn’t tell you what it is that got me in, but I am humbled to have been admitted. I feel a lot of other applicants and prospective applicants/students had much better resumes than my own, so don’t take my EC’s as a base, everyone has they’re own story. And my best advice is to try and convey your story and passions. You just can’t go wrong showing who you truly are.
