<p>I'm a HS Sophomore, with currently terrible and horrible records. I want to go to a great university like UF, UM, any Good Florida University, but I don't think I can get in.</p>
<p>FRESHMAN YEAR- B's, A's(in electives), and 2 C's in Geometry. I did volunteering, but no clubs. Honors/Regular Classes mixed.</p>
<p>SOPHOMORE YEAR- I am taking 3 AP's, and working hard, and all honors. I have 1 bad bad class for failing the FCAT by 1 point, its a reading class, which makes me loose hope in everything. This Reading Class is the worst class I have.</p>
<p>JUNIOR/SENIOR YEAR- I plan to work hard, attain good grades/sat scores.</p>
<p>I dont know. That Int. Reading class will surely put me into trouble, along with those C's Freshman year, should I just give up, and chill/relax for the rest of high school, or follow my current thing and work hard?</p>

<p>CE25M, I understand, but wanted a complete clear cut answer. Are you sure Reading will not hinder me from College/University? It’s the only class that I am worried about. Thanks for your answers.</p>
<p>And I wouldn’t complain about the “bad bad bad” class. How to say this tactfully…if you failed the FCAT, you need this class. You’re not going to wiggle your way out of it (schools are strict on these things). Maybe if you’re applying to an Ivy it would be bad, but you’re not.</p>
<p>I think it’s stupid that you’ve lost hope in a remedial reading class. It’s going to help you pass the FCAT and help you become a better reader. Maybe you need it.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t worry MUCH, but if you have lacking reading skills, then this could go beyond just not getting into college. College is all about your reading skills, so I would perfect those before you finish high school.</p>
<p>For UF and UM, you need to more involved within your school club activities and leadership positions before you become a senior would be ideal. Keep your Unweighted GPA high (3.6-4.0), score over 1250-1350 for SAT or 28 for ACT, and write amazing application essays then you’ll be fine. Try keep a challenging schedule with AP’s and Dual Enrollments if you can, and I mean one you know who can strive in. Try to remain in the top 15% if you can. I would try to maintain an A, but at least a high A/B average when applying to UF and UM. If you choose to give up, well that’s on you. As long as you don’t get anymore C’s, unless the class is like AP Chem/ Calc level, then you’ll should be good to go.</p>
<p>Give up and you won’t get in. Continue to try your best. UF Admissions is pretty strange, so I’ll recommend applying for early admission for them and possibly for summer since it’s like 5% easier to get in. But UM isn’t as harsh for general admission. </p>
<p>I would recommend going to each of the websites and looking over the stats of admitted students.</p>
<p>Everything I’m telling may be a little overboard (UF is strange again), but it should guarantee you a high chance for acceptance. </p>
<p>And if you don’t get accepted, apply to out of state and to other Florida school, specifically the honors programs.

<p>Why UF is strange: I knew two girls who took the same AP classes, like up to Calc BC, who had generally the same amazing scores. One got in to UF and one didn’t. They had basically the same high scores and stats. Mind-boggled me.</p>
<p>Stop worrying about one class. Your posts are becoming a little… excessive. It’s not like you’re applying to Ivies. I know that your high school makes UF seem like Harvard (mine called it the Harvard of the south, lololol). Yes, they’re good schools. But 1 class won’t hurt you. I told you how to get out of it earlier. Take the ACT now and score at least an 18, and you can get out of intensive reading. I don’t really think it helps anyone actually pass the fcrap. But you’re stuck there unless you take the ACT and get an 18 or better.</p>
