Should I go to Notre dame, UNC, or Michigan?

Hi all! I was accepted into Notre Dame, University of Michigan out of state, and UNC out of state all early action. Can anyone weigh in on which school they think is the better choice or the stronger choice and help me with this decision? I have recieved no financial aid if that helps.

Can you afford all three schools? Have you visited? What is your major? What are you looking for in a school?

They are all excellent schools. If they are all comfortably affordable, base your decision on personal fit.

Its going to be tight but theoretically yes I can afford all three schools. I’ve seen UNC and although I haven’t seen michigan or notre dame I love them. They are honestly all just great in my mind and I want some perspectives on these schools from people who went there or just know the schools well. I would be Bio with Pre-Med.

Do you have any specific questions? They are all excellent schools and will ultimately depend on fit.

Honestly which ones have the best Pre-Med program and are the most fun

They are all strong schools academically. What do you mean by fun? This means different things to different people.

I just wanted people to weigh in on those specific schools about the experiences they have had there and which one they feel are good options, thats all

You have 2 v v large state unis and a vsmaller school with a strong Catholic ethos & structure. I don’t know what you mean by ‘I haven’t seen them but I love them’ but to me it sounds like somebody who is in love with the marketing version of the schools, not an actual understanding of what the schools really are and how you would fit there. IMO you should at least go to revisit days before deciding.

Btw, are you familiar with parietals?

I will be going to visit Michigan and ND in february, just wanted some advice from some people with experience from the school to make an informed decision. And yes I know about the ND parietal situation, it doesn’t seem too bad but kind of boarding school like to me.

Yes, visit and see how you feel at each. All are good choices.

They are all excellent options… the goal is to find the one that is an excellent option for YOU. Visiting will help determine fit.

Do you want Greek life? Are you looking to be heavily involved in clubs and student organizations? Are you looking to volunteer on campus and in the community? What are your interests?

Academically, and in terms of medical school placement, all three are outstanding. I would go for the most affordable option. If cost is not a concern, then go for fit. Visiting all three will help.

thanks sm! Anyone have an idea of what the social life is like for bio and other pre-med majors? I imagine the work load must be hard to balance with fun

Wow! Good job OP.

All equally great. UNC seems smaller town, that huge uni. So they seem to keep a bit of the smaller charm even though they are quite large. but I was only there once.

Michigan is huge and seems like it too. My S says it is funthough.

What about RD? Are you still waiting for any schools?

Premed is going to be an equal grind at all 3. All have weed out classes, too.

Still waiting on some RD schools: Duke, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, USC, and Wake Forest. Not expecting to get into most of those even though I got into all 9 of my EA schools!

The workload in the sciences is going to be heavy, but there will still be time to enjoy yourself. Sports will be big at all three schools. You can also get involved in Greek life, clubs, student organizations, volunteering… the list goes on an on. Things should become clearer once you visit.

@syd24ranger I think you got the answer to your question: “Hi all! I was selected as a National Hispanic Scholar as a part of College Board’s National Hispanic Regognition Program. I’ve heard that this could potentially help with admission/scholarship money at certain schools. At what schools does being a National Hispanic Scholar seem to count for admissions?”

Wait til you hear from all the schools you’ve applied to. They are all wonderful academically, & are interesting places as well. There will possibly be a significant price difference among the ones you’ve gotten into. To me, UNC is the most attractive of the 3 you mentioned getting into…it’s moderately sized (under 20k undergrads), good weather, nice town.
