Should I go to Rutgers

I live about a half hour away and I half mixed feelings about this place. I want to major in computer science but I also would like to maybe have a minor or a double major in a business major. The only problem would be getting into the business school. I doubt i'd get in and if I don't as a freshman, i'd apply as a sophomore. If I don't get in then, I guess I'm screwed. I don't know....

I also don't really like the New Brunswick area, and as bad as it sounds, I hate the fact that there are less than 50% caucasians. (sorry i know that sounds stupid).

I think i'd like going to a large school with a football team and Rutgers is the only option like that in NJ basically. It would be really cheap for me to go there also.......

I don't know what to do. I feel like anything out of state is way too expensive and Rutgers is my only option in-state. Also, I would HATE for my dog to die while I'm away at college and I want to be close where I could come home every once in a while.

Suggestions?? ? ? ?

Don’t need racist people like you. If you want 99% white people then go to mississippi or Alabama.

They are cheap, really into football, and fit your narrow mind

you’re only considering this school because it’s close and convenient. so no, let other hard-working and open-minded people apply.

You want to come to Rutgers because its close and cheap?? No wai!!! I think you’ll find that boat is crowded, but anyway just come here. As for the 50% non-white thing, that was one of the most attractive things for me about Rutgers but I think you’ll find its pretty clicky and you’ll be hanging out with mostly white kids anyway  Hooray for you I guess

Why not attend a local community college for your first year? It may be closer to home so you can commute and your grades should transfer to Rutgers as long as you do well.

You seem unsure, undecided, and not confident. Maybe you should talk to your guidance counselor at school; she could probably give you better suggestions than a message board.

if you don’t like diversity then you are definitely in the wrong part of the country. don’t even consider rutgers

“if you don’t like diversity then you are definitely in the wrong part of the country. don’t even consider rutgers”

wow, that’s pretty excellent advice, lol.

I’ll add to that: don’t plan on getting a job of any sort in this part of the country.

and the admissions essay asks “how you can benefit from and contribute to diversity” so…

hahha great advice guys.

@Ali That is hilarious!

But seriously, Rutgers boasts about it’s diversity.
You’re better off somewhere in the south like Bob Jones.

I agree with the above posters. If the diversity aspect is already bothering you, then you are in for a rude awakening if you come here.

Most large state schools will have some degree of diversity. You might want to go on a tour if you’re seriously considering Rutgers. If you don’t like it and still want the in-state tuition, you could look into TCNJ or Rowan…
