should i go to the community colleges?

Okay, so I live in NYC and I am currently a senior. I was born and raised here. I went to school here also. But, after 7th grade, I went to my parents country with them. It was supposed to be a 1 and half month trip, but it turned out to be a 2 and half year one. My dad was sick and family problems and all that, that's why it got extended. Please don't ask why, it's a long story.

So, after coming back in April, I got admitted in 10th grade. I was short on credits and my gpa was really LOW. Then, I tried to do well in my junior year. Now, since I'm a senior, I have 35 credits and my gpa is 82.86. I will reach the requirement for credits by the end of the year, but my gpa is still low and I don't know how to raise it up.

And, another thing, I took the SAT in my junior year twice.
1st time 2nd time
CR-380 CR-410
M-400 M-430
W-430 W-400
I signed up to take the SAT again in Nov. but I don't if it will go higher. I really don't want to go to the community colleges, but if I'm not left with any choice, then idk. And, can someone tell me about the CUNY SEEK programs.
Thank you.

can anyone please answer…urgent!!

Can anyone please answer me?
I am very desperate right now!!!

I’m not an expert in this because I’m a senior in NYC as well and I’ve been really lazy because I haven’t even bothered with colleges yet.
However, CUNYs and SUNYs are CHEAP. If you have financial issues, go with them. You can’t apply to NYU or other private schools and hope to make through. Note that if you manage to get into a good school like the IVYs, you basically don’t have to pay for tuition. I suggest improving your SAT scores and gpa.

SUNY’s will be very hard. Some of the higher CUNY’s will be hard also.

It’s not impossible for CUNY’s so just use the one application for six of them

thank you. btw i am trying to improve my GPA and i am re-taking the SAT in november.
But, i am still not suree, a lot of the students from my school first go to community college and then transfer out to 4 year. But, I am scared.

I AM SOOO CONFUSED!
plz help out!

How did you score so low on the SAT?

^ answered C on everything  (I actually don’t know, but wondered the same thing)

PREPARE for the SAT! Then prepare some more!!!

Community colleges are great options for those with income issues. Remember that at the end of your undergraduate years, your diploma will have the name of the school you graduated from, not the school you first went to.

As well, community colleges are not typically academically rigorous, so this will give you an opportunity to improve your gpa and student skills so that you are better prepared for a 4 year school.

I agree with you crazymomster and thank you. I am trying and giving my all for the SAT’s.

and by the way, cardyboy, if you had read my whole question then maybe you’d understand why I scored so low in the SAT’s.
