So basically I am an incoming Freshman for this Fall. I have made my decision that I am going to attend Georgia Tech. However, I have never visited the campus before. Should I go visit next week? Will it just be a waste of time since I have already made my decision and it is unlikely that I am going to change it? There is no way I can change my decision anyway because May 1st has passed. And I really like Georgia Tech from I have heard from other people and researching online.

That, in my opinion, not exactly a great move by you to send in the deposit without visiting the campus. I suppose some internationals do that though, so maybe you will be okay, but it definitely would have been to your advantage when deciding your school to have visited GT. I suppose there’s no reason anymore for visiting unless you just don’t want to feel like a complete stranger on Day 1. So if it’s not too expensive, I guess you can go for it.

Actually, I wanted to visit in March, but I found out I got waitlisted. When I found out I was accepted, I was so excited, so I just accepted the offer right away since Georgia Tech has been one of my top schools for a while. I don’t really know if visit is going to be worth the money. I live in MS, and I will probably ride a bus. It should cost me around 300 dollars for the whole trip. I don’t really know if it is worth for me to spend 300ish dollars to just not feel like a complete stranger for FASET.

It may not be worth it. I don’t know if there will be much of a social scene either. Isn’t Tech having finals? Or are they done? Either way, you may not be able to witness the social scene very much. You will, however, be exposed to the facilities, which are amazing for the most part. Then again, I normally go in newer/renovated academic buildings when I am over there, so my opinion is biased. The oldest buildings I have been in are the Physics building and the one holding the undergrad/freshmen chem. labs. They were okay I guess.

In your case, I would suggest waiting until the last FASET because you’re committed to attending and I don’t think it’s necessary to visit, go back home, and then go back to Tech again.

Chances are that even you visit during the Summer semester, you will not meet many new freshmen and so you’ll still be a “complete stranger for FASET.”
