We will be visiting schools during DS' spring break. We'd love to visit GaTech, but they are also on spring break the same week. The website shows that they will still be having the information sessions, but no campus tours or college-based sessions.

DS is a junior, but this may be the only opportunity to visit this area.

Would it be worth it to go five hours out of our way to go to the information session and walk around an abandoned campus? Or he could miss two days of school to visit the Friday before spring break.

Well here’s the way we are doing it. DS is a Senior and was accepted in EA. We live close to Atlanta and wandered around campus over winter break when the campus was closed. DS and I had never been there before( we had decided to wait and see if he got in) but my Husband works downtown close by GT and knows the area. DS is going to the “connect with tech” thing in Feb it’s where accepted students stay overnight at GT and get a feel for the campus. You could do the walk around by yourself and then next year have him apply and when he gets in you could have him go to the “connect with tech” thing and then he could decide for sure if it was where he wanted to go.

Connecting with a student will give you a much more vibrant view of student life. Walking around buildings is one thing, but hearing what’s exciting, etc. is probably more important and worth an investment.

My son did the connect with tech thing last year. It was a very good program. He chose another university, but i strongly recommend that program to get a good feel for GT.
