Hi, so I’m not sure how to feel about my acceptance to UCR. My stats are pretty low, but I’m not sure if it’s my SAT or ACT that got me in.
Could anyone explain what might’ve gotten me into UCR?
GPA: 3.3 weighted (9 APs taken)
SAT: 1350
ACT: 30
Essays: pretty kick ass essays imo
Extracurriculars: nothing special, just some volunteering in church and a mission trip.
Background: born in US, lived in Central Asia for my elementary school life, and came to the US for junior high school and on.
Major: sociology
reported AP scores:
APUSH: 3
APLANG: 4
AP CS: 3
AP EURO: 3
Thanks in advance.
If you got in you deserve to be there. Go forth and make the most of your opportunity.
You took 9 AP classes and had a solid B weighted average. This means you can do college level work. UCR knows what they’re doing. Congratulations!
Thanks! Do you think I’m on the low-end of the applicants that “just barely” made it in? I haven’t really been able to feel confident about my acceptance, so I’ve been conflicted on whether I got in on a whim, or my statistics (at least my test scores) got me in.
But of course this is all based off of the UCR averages (3.7gpa, 25-27act, 1190sat)
First off, congrats–you should be proud, you got in for a reason. Also, I would say that your SAT score is above the average admitted students, so it compensated for your GPA. Your essays were a big factor as well.
Regardless of whether you were admitted on the lower end or not, colleges (especially UC’s) will always start off by accepting the big scholars. (i.e 4.6 GPA and 1500 SAT) Personally, I felt that I got admitted to UCR on a whim (I had a 3.8 GPA/1170 SAT), but nevertheless, WE GOT IN.
Hope to see you in the fall!!
