Should I have stood up for this girl?

Haha, you must live in such a poor neighborhood. You dirty poorski.

Actually, I live in a really wealthy neighborhood…

How did the girl even react?

I would have said loudly, “I like your bag” and smile innocently.

lol @ those snobby girls- this sounds more like a Hollywood stereotypical high school (or at least middle school)

^^Wealthy for Sudan, maybe. I don’t associate with your kind.

You mean you don’t associate with the fiscally responsible? That’s odd…

I probably would have said something.

Almost everything I wear is from thrift stores. I don’t tell anyone and they assume that my clothes are really expensive and i smile and say yeah, I bought my stuff for $120.

Marimus not everyone is as profligate and wasteful as you.

Hmm, depending on if I was afraid of those mean girls or not. If it was me I would laugh at them and say something like

Some of us have to make do with the money that what we have. We can’t all skim off of daddy like you do. But on the bright side, we won’t be wastes coke addicts in ten years.

Actually, she shouldn’t be wearing fake stuff anyway.
Why try to show off with a Gucci bag when you can buy a decent sized on sale Coach bag for about $80.00?
She sort of brought it on herself but the other girls were obnoxious for attacking her like that.

^ Yeah.

She shouldn’t have lied. And OP, I don’t think there was anything you could have done to the mean girls make the situation any better, but you could’ve said to the other girl something like “Don’t worry about those girls, they’re just jealous cuz you’re way prettier than them”

And it’s not too late to do that!

Are you crazy? Why shouldn’t she wear what she wants if its a fake or not.
We don’t know if she bought it because it was Gucci or because it was pretty and appealed to her. That doesn’t change the fact that those girls attacked her because she was poorer and wasn’t as rich as they were.

And that absolutely disgusts me.

This sounds like a rich kid bash fest. Sweeping generalizations and snide remarks run a murk. No need to bash kids just because they have more money than you. ( This is coming from a poor kid). What the girls did was wrong, but there is no reason to bash all rich kids.

Whoops. I didn’t really read howdypal’s post. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wearing fake stuff, but the girl shouldn’t have lied. I’m not saying that telling the truth and admitting it was a fake bag would keep the girls from making fun of her, but lying about it does make her look that much more pathetic to them.

^ Is someone bashing rich kids here?

Technically, we don’t know if it’s fake. That was just the OP’s assessment based on the girls’ comments.

Maybe me? I might have said something, I’m never sure.

Apparently, the OP was thinking this before the mean girls started making fun of the poor girls.

Meh, well, I don’t really read. Never learnt.

Well that’s my personal opinion…you should not wear fake things…especially if it’s a fake brand o_O That’s really strange to me. Even if she did pick it up be/c she liked the bag, isn’t selling counterfeit items illegal?..If so, why would you support the seller? What are you guys getting mad over?

But like I said, I would have defended the girl against the mean bytches.

I wouldn’t pay $80 for a real Gucci purse.

Neither would I ? Waste of good food money, a regular purse would serve me just fine, thank you very much.

It doesn’t matter if it’s fake! Like the OP said, “who cares if it’s fake?” Why do people buy a Nissan sports coupe over a Mercedes? Mazda over a Porsche? Why do you eat fast food burgers over gourmet burgers? The argument can go both ways… so yeah… WHO CARES?

Anyway
Of course you should have said something. Of course the mean girls are going to attack you if you stand up for the other girl. If I were you, I would nonchalantly say that it doesn’t matter. Say something like, “It’s just a bag. It doesn’t affect you in any way, so let’s just get on with our lives.”

Or say “hater much?”

aStyle—You’ve completely missed my point.
Buying a Nissan Coupe instead of a Mercedes is completely fine…so when is a Nissan Coupe considered fake?
Buying a fake Gucci bag and trying to pass it off as a real one is not okay . But buying a legit Coach bag instead is okay (as I mentioned in my first post).
Buying counterfeit Gucci bags is illegal.

Lolol @ the bolded and underlined asterisks.
