Buying a fake Gucci bag and trying to pass it off as a real one is not okay/quote Yet again, it is not clear whether the bag was really fake, nor does it matter.

Thanks. Some are italic, but it’s hard to tell. Also, there are four white ones (invisible on Fresh) and a gray e3 one (invisible on CC).

I agree, although if the girls were always being %&$* to people then I guess I would want to say something to them. Something you could have done is while the girls were going on about fakies and everything, is to give the girl getting picked on a small smile and roll your eyes at the mean girls to show how ridiculous they were, then start a convo with her about something relevant e.g. the English paper we have to write is ridiculous.

Dont kid yourself. The bag was fake and It matters. It’s kind of like getting free music from Limewire. My aunt works for Prada and there’s a whole division out there trying to catch bag, shoe and belt counterfeiters. It matters. It’s illegal therefore it matters.

Welp, we both know something is fundamentally wrong with that. She shouldn’t try to please other people (assuming that this was her thinking)

Again, how do you know it was fake? Some *****es at her school made fun of her for it? You’re just going on that assumption. And she didn’t steal it, she bought it. IF it was fake, the wrong was on the seller, not the customer. But I’m not going to feel bad for Gucci. “Oh, poor Gucci/Prada” are words that won’t be uttered by me.

And the society she was a product of shouldn’t be providing that materialistic judgment.

"Welp, we both know something is fundamentally wrong with that. She shouldn’t try to please other people (assuming that this was her thinking) "

By this argument, neither should those girls be making fun of her for carrying a hypothetically fake-(we don’t know this.) purse.

Irrespective of what she did, what those girls have done is still wrong.

^^^I’m getting tired now. The OP mentioned that the girl said she got the bag for $80.00.
I have never seen (even on sale) an authentic Gucci bag for less than $500.00-$600.00.
The shyt is fake.
It’s okay not to feel bad for these corporations but I still don’t understand why someone would spend $80.00 on a fake poor quality "Gucci"bag when they can get a real Coach bag for that same amount o_O.
Yes I agree that this behavior is def a product of our society.
And yes I agree that the girls werent nice AT ALL. They shouldnt have attacked her.

Umm…LaTina? Arent fake and knockoff bags the same thing? I mean a Gucci bag for $80.00? Come on.

No, knockoffs don’t try to hide the fact that they’re fake. You mentioned counterfeit bags earlier, so I assumed that your definition of “fake” as it pertains to bags, means counterfeit, while to me, it means knockoffs. I don’t even know where to get counterfeit bags. Anyway, fake counterfeits try to looks like the real thing and use the real name. Knockoffs are from brands like Nine West and whatever.

Yea I know what you mean
a knockoff wouldn’t say “Gucci”…the OP mentioned that th bag said Gucci. Many fake bags say Gucci and try to copy that cool looking logo.
lol look online and around nyc for counterfeit bags.

Hmmm, there were some “no’s”, including me.

My points: Girl shouldn’t have lied in the first place, it makes her look that much more pathetic to the mean girls.

There wasn’t anything the OP could have done to the mean girls.

OP could have comforted the poor girl afterward and said “Don’t worry about those girls, they’re just jealous because you re waaaay prettier than them!” OP could still do this.

Dude get used to HSL on CC–legendary for dragging on a topic that should have died hours ago ;)
But um should the OP have stood up for the girl? should-of, could-of, would-of, didn’t.
Next time just try to be nice to the girl and bring her into your social circle if you really want to help her (assuming the people you hang out with (assuming you hang out :p) are nicer than that group of bytches).
and make sure she doesn’t buy anymore fake bags -_______-

I thought this thread would go no longer than 2 pages. Anyway, yesterday I had a group project and I asked to work with her. We talked and joked, she’s really cool, I wonder why I never got to talk to her before. I didn’t bring up the bag, because she wasn’t wearing it and I didn’t want it to get all awkward.

I knew it was fake because it had the G logo that Gucci has on its bags with the usual red and green. But the inside had a Hello Kitty lining, and in the hallway I happened to see the zipper fall off when she pulled it. These “mean girls” call people out when they wear fakes or knockoffs to embarrass them, their big time label whores and love to wear things more than $500.

Making a show for the mean girls would have nice for seeing their faces get majorly p.o.'ed, though. But obviously comforting the teased girl privately afterwards would have had the same effect for her- getting a self-esteem booster after being derided somewhat on a personal level (i.e. not being to afford expensive high-end products).

The girl shouldn’t have lied, and if she bought the bag for $80, it definitely is a fake. Real Guccis, especially ones sold on sale in store, wouldn’t ever be sold for as low as $80. More than 50% is usually unfeasible.

Although her lie was blatant, the mean girls really shouldn’t have mocked her about her finances and such that way. High school kids carry counterfeits all the time - and although that is just supporting the black market of counterfeits and it’s not ethical - you can’t really fight that. Like someone else said, maybe she bought it because it was cute, and not because of the Gucci logo. Regardless of all that though, the girls reacted in a horrible way, and you should just take care to make the girl feel better. Confronting the girls about it is your choice. It may do harm to you more than good to the girl who was ridiculed, but it also may put them in their place.
