Hello College Confidential,
Just today I received a letter in the mail informing me that I had won the Brausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award. I had no clue that this award existed, or that I was even nominated, but I am very glad to have received it. I did my research and found that this award is given for academic excellence in science subjects only to Juniors in Highschool. To receive it, a student must be nominated by a teacher, then teachers vote over who to award. Only one junior is awarded. So my question is, does this award look good on an application being sent out to Ivy League schools? My class size is almost 600 students, does that show me as someone who stands out and would be favorable to admit to an Ivy school? Thank you for all feedback!
As a side note- this award also qualifies me for a $10,000 per year merit scholarship to the University of Rochester. I only found out about this award because U of R sent me a letter notifying me of this scholarship. I have not yet received information from my school (which I should have).
